The Mason Group at Northwestern University
An Electroceramics Research Group

Welcome to the Mason Group Website

Mason Group Picture

Our group investigates fundamental structure-property relationships in technologically important electroceramics, including transparent conducting oxides (TCOs), transparent oxide semiconductors (TOSs), amorphous TCOs and TOSs, ionic ceramics, and mixed ionic/electronic ceramics (MIECs). Our work addresses the development of electroceramics for energy- conversion systems, such as photovoltaics and fuel cells.

The Mason group is supported by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the Department of Energy (DOE), and participates in several major Centers, including the Materials Research Science and Engineering Center (MRSEC), the Argonne-Northwestern Solar Energy Research (ANSER) Center, and the Center for Inverse Design (CID).  The ANSER and CID Centers are Energy Frontier Research Centers (EFRCs) recently launched by the DOE.
